St. Olaf celebrates Homecoming and Family Weekend
Against a backdrop of beautiful fall colors in full display on the Hill, St. Olaf College welcomed hundreds of parents, family members, alumni, and guests to campus for Homecoming and Family Weekend.
Visitors had the opportunity to attend athletic events and music concerts, sit in on St. Olaf classes, tour the Natural Lands, hear an update from President David R. Anderson ’74, participate in an Amazing Race, check out the exhibit in Flaten Art Museum, and test their stamina in a 95′ inflatable obstacle course.
This year’s Homecoming and Family Weekend also featured a special celebration of 50 Years of Women in Athletics to mark the passage of the landmark Title IX legislation in 1972. Olympic bronze medalist Joey Lye spoke to attendees, providing both historical context about the trailblazers who fought for Title IX and a call for a new generation to continue pushing for progress. Students working with St. Olaf Archives also presented a pop-up exhibit showcasing unique items from women’s athletics over the decades.
The weekend featured a home volleyball match that included an ice cream celebration after, a home football game, and a Saturday evening concert by the St. Olaf Band. In St. Olaf style, the weekend wrapped up with music — a Family Weekend Concert featuring Manitou Singers, Norseman Band, Philharmonia, and Viking Chorus.
To all alumni, parents, and guests who traveled to the Hill, thank you for joining us for a weekend at home. Um! Yah! Yah!
