St. Olaf sophomores take a big step
The St. Olaf College Class of 2021 recently headed to the Black and Gold Ballrooms in Buntrock Commons to participate in the annual major declaration day. The event, co-sponsored by the Center for Advising and Academic Support (CAAS) and Alumni and Parent Relations, is a celebration for sophomores as they take the next step on their academic journey.
Excited students bustled around the room — visiting the photo booth with friends, frosting cookies at the build-your-own cookie bar, and taking photos with Ole the Lion. Every academic department was represented, and students had the opportunity to chat with faculty members from their chosen field and hold up signs stating which major(s) they declared.
The positive energy was noticed by many. “I’ve never seen an event like this,” says Taylor Center for Equity and Inclusion Director María Pabón Gautier. “There’s such a big hype, and I think it’s super important because it’s the start of our students’ career paths and a step in figuring out what they want to do after graduation.”
Congratulations, Oles!
