In their first week on campus, they attended a special welcome ceremony for new students and their families on the Campus Green, met President David R. Anderson ’74 while signing their name in the college book, registered for classes, and joined the campus community for Opening Convocation.

“At St. Olaf we believe that an essential part of college is the experience of learning, living, and growing in the company of others. The fundamental belief behind this way of doing college is that every one of you belongs here,” Anderson told students and families gathered for the welcome ceremony. “You’re all Oles. And while there are countless forms of difference among our 3,000 students, you all share the common bond of belonging to our community, the bond that will be with you for the rest of your life.”
