Supporters of St. Olaf College have driven its For the Hill and Beyond comprehensive campaign past its initial $200 million goal. As of April 22, the total given stands at $218 million, with 13 months remaining until the campaign’s end in May 2020.

“We are most grateful for the thoughtful generosity of everyone who has given to the campaign so far,” says David R. Anderson ’74, president of St. Olaf College. “The impact of their generosity will be felt for generations in the lives of Oles who will have access to a rich, empowering education because of their campaign gifts.”

Launched publicly in October 2016, For the Hill and Beyond is focusing on raising endowed and current revenue to advance and increase access to high-impact academic learning opportunities, the many ways that Oles learn in community, new scholarships to enhance the affordability of a St. Olaf degree, and core support for the college’s mission through the St. Olaf Fund. More than 24,177 alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends have generously participated in the campaign, driving results across these goal areas.

St. Olaf will continue to work with donors to advance support in these areas through May 2020. Impact will increase as additional gifts are made, pledges are completed, endowed earnings grow, and Oles draw on their St. Olaf education. The total raised currently stands as the most ever given by the St. Olaf community in a campaign.

For the Hill and Beyond focuses on these priorities because they make a lifelong difference for Oles,” says President Anderson. “Advancing access, equity and inclusion, academic rigor, intellectual diversity, vocational discernment, and our strong foundation in our Lutheran tradition will help Oles lead productive, fulfilling, and purposeful lives now and beyond their years on the Hill.”
