Living Water, Loving Hands

Dear Friends in Christ,

Grace and peace to you in the name of our crucified and risen Lord.

Amid these complex times, we are pleased to share a devotional resource created for parents navigating the deep joys and real challenges of parenting in a world marked by fear, injustice, and uncertainty. Titled Living Water, Loving Hands, it invites parents to live into their baptismal identity as beloved children of God while nurturing children and participating in God’s work of justice and love.

Grounded in baptismal theology, this six-week series offers weekly reflections (that can be repeated daily) built around five movements:

  • Beholding – Naming what is real: fear, anger, exhaustion, and the injustices around us.
  • Belonging – Rooting identity in Christ, not in chaos.
  • Becoming – Practicing small, faithful actions in daily life.
  • Blessing – Seeing parenting as a form of holy resistance.
  • Breathing – Remembering rest and renewal as sacred acts.

Each reflection is designed to meet parents where they are — whether at a kitchen table, in the quiet moments after bedtime, or in the midst of the noise of daily life. The devotions affirm that being a parent and participating in God’s work of justice are not competing callings but deeply intertwined expressions of baptismal faithfulness.

We invite congregations to share Living Water, Loving hands with parents in their communities. It can be used as a printed handout, shared via email, or adapted for discussion groups. Our hope is that it will provide encouragement, spiritual grounding, and practical guidance for those seeking to parent with courage, compassion, and rootedness in Christ.

If you would like a copy of the full devotionals or have questions about incorporating them into your congregation’s ministry, please do not hesitate to be in touch.

May this Lent be a time of deepening faith, steadfast love, and holy presence in your homes and communities.

In Christ’s service,

Char
