What is a Decision Guide?

The month of January was dedicated to figuring out exactly what features, options, and workflows St. Olaf would need to be included in our new Oracle software. The decision guides are a written down version of all these conversations and decisions. For each module in this software, a different decision guide is needed. For example, there is a “Core HR” module, an “Onboarding” module, a “Health & Safety” module, an “HR Helpdesk” module, and so on and so on – for a total of 12 decision guides in Phase 1.

 What Comes Next?

Coming soon is the testing step for version 1 of our new software. Before we can test, however, the software will require some sample data to be tested properly. The month of February is focused on getting all (or in some cases, only part) of our current data cleaned up, exported, and loaded into this new software. Some types of data are easy to export whereas others may require some cleanup or modifications or mappings. But soon enough, we’ll be all ready to test!
