Philosophia: A New Club Emerges

A new club is emerging in the St.Olaf Philosophy Department, Philosophia! As seen through various other clubs and event staples such as Pizza Thursdays and the Philosophy Film Club, the philosophy department encourages learning through conversation, both with peers and faculty members. Now, Philosophia is adding another crucial dimension to our department’s social and intellectual life.

Founded by philosophy students and advised by faculty, Philosophia is a club dedicated to supporting women and gender minorities within the field of philosophy. The club aims to create a welcoming and inclusive space for sharing experiences, observations, mutual support, and philosophical exploration for underrepresented groups. In addition to an open atmosphere, Philosophia promotes the work of underrepresented genders and welcomes all who are interested to come and engage.

Philosophia meets once a week on Wednesdays bringing together students and contributing to the ongoing, important conversation of underrepresented groups in the field.

The Philosophy Department is incredibly excited to welcome Philosophia and is looking forward to the meaningful contributions this new club will make to our community!
