SSSD New Student Orientation

You will arrive from 9 AM – 12 PM and check in at the red tent set up on the lawn across from Hoyme Hall. Here, you will receive your student ID, room key, and SSSD t-shirt. Refer to the map for directions coming off of Hwy-19. (If on a computer, right click and select “open image in new tab” to be able to zoom in easier)

Lunch will be held in Stav Hall, which is on the top floor of Buntrock Commons (or “bunt” as we like to call it), from 12 PM – 1 PM. There will be Orientation Leaders waiting outside and inside the dining hall to help orient you. Students, Friends, and Family members are all welcome.

We will all be meeting in Tomson 280 for a general welcome and introduction to SSSD NSO. Orientation Leaders will be available to help you find your way to the meeting space.

Family and friends will break off and go with the Director of SSSD while students remain in Tomson 210.

Students, family and friends will come back together to say their goodbyes. The events from here on out will be just for the students

You will break out in to your assigned small groups, do some get to know you activities, and create your group chat for the week.

Either during this time or the Tuesday advising time, you will have a 15 minute meeting with your advisor just as a general get to know you and to set up your weekly meeting time for your first semester. These meetings will take place in your advisors office in the SSSD space. These advising sessions have already been assigned and you will be given your time at our welcome meeting.

When you aren’t having your advising session, it’s a break time for you.

Dinner will be in Stav hall (where lunch was). Orientation Leaders will be there to help make sure you’re in the right spot and to sit with while you eat.

There will be a hangout in The Pause (a hangout space on the bottom floor of Buntrock) where you can play pool or join in on some of the activities our Orientation Leaders will have planned!!!!!
