International Student Counselors

Current Counselors

Job Description

Dear International Student Counselor Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the International Student Counselor position.

Each year International Student Counselors are chosen to serve new international students who come to St. Olaf College. New international students arrive on campus several days before other new students for orientation – a time of intense activity and close bonding. International Student Counselors play a key role in the first days new students are on campus.

International Student Counselors attend their own orientation session in early May and arrive for further training in late August several days before the new students. Throughout the year they will work with International Student Advisor and serve as peer counselors, help organize activities for all international students and encourage international students to participate in campus life.

Because International Student Counselors are key people in fostering a healthy living environment in this community, there are certain expectations of the students who serve in this capacity. Please review the attached qualifications and expectations prior to completing your application.

If you would like to apply to be an International Student Counselor for the next academic year, please complete and return the application forms, both the application and letter of recommendation (see link below’) to the International Student Advisor’s office, Buntrock Rm. 109 by Friday, February 17, 2012 (recommendation is due by Friday, February 24, 2012). Decisions will be announced after March 16, 2012.

St. Olaf College and the international students appreciate the time and energy that International Student Counselors have given to their responsibilities. Thank you for considering this position for 2012-2013.
