The St. Olaf Choir, conducted by Anton Armstrong ’78, will embark on its 2026 national tour of the Midwest and Texas starting in mid-January.

The ensemble’s 75 singers will perform in 12 cities from Saturday, January 24, through Monday, February 9. They will present concerts in some of the nation’s finest churches and concert halls in a six-state tour of Minnesota, South Dakota, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas, culminating in a concert at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas.

The St. Olaf Choir is internationally renowned for its unique combination of advanced choral singing and the presentation of challenging choral programming, with a vast repertoire that includes sacred and secular choral standards, traditional hymns, new compositions, spirituals, and more. The program will include pieces by living and traditional composers and arrangers, including Kenneth Jennings ’50, Moses G. Hogan Jr.,  Mari Esabel Valverde ’10, John Ferguson, Undine Smith Moore, St. Olaf Choir founder F. Melius Christiansen, and more.

“Hearing the St. Olaf Choir in concert is more than just a musical experience,” Armstrong says. “Our singers, performing at the highest artistic level, convey a message of hope. Our music provides a bridge to what can unite us at a time when the world is so divided. We often hear from concertgoers who tell us they are not only struck by the sound and uniformity of the St. Olaf Choir, but also by the earnestness of what comes through the voices of our young singers. Our singers touch the hearts and souls of listeners, and our audiences leave transformed.”

Armstrong is in his 36th year leading the St. Olaf Choir. He is the fourth and longest-tenured conductor to lead the ensemble during its 113-year history. In addition to his role as a professor of music at St. Olaf College, Armstrong is in demand in the international choral scene as a guest conductor and lecturer. Like his three predecessors, Armstrong carries forward the international reputation of the St. Olaf Choir, an ensemble that is rooted in St. Olaf College’s tradition of faith and commitment to a global perspective.

“We often hear from concertgoers who tell us they are not only struck by the sound and uniformity of the St. Olaf Choir, but also by the earnestness of what comes through the voices of our young singers. Our singers touch the hearts and souls of listeners, and our audiences leave transformed.”
