Scholarship for people with disabilities
Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute
The Scholarship for People with Disabilities program is administered by Courage Center through a Scholarship Committee. Funds are made available through the private donation of Melvin and Sally Mooty. Scholarships will not exceed $1,000. The scholarship monies are to fund tuition, books and supplies.
The program is intended to assist people who have a sensory impairment or physical disability who want to pursue educational goals or gain technical expertise beyond high school. Applicants will need to identify how a scholarship will support their educational aspirations and career goals. Selection emphasis is placed on the applicants’ intentions and achievements rather than solely on his/her graduation ranking.

In order to qualify, the student must be enrolled in a 2 or 4 year accredited college or university in the United States of America. They must be a matriculated student and attending school full time and U.S. citizen. We will accept students who are not attending school full time as long as the part time attendance is due to their disability and not their financial situation (minimum of 6 credits for undergraduate, 6 credits for graduate). Unfortunately, we are not able to award scholarships to high school students.

Since we first opened our doors in 2004, Incight has awarded more than 800 scholarships to students with disabilities pursuing post-secondary education attending community college, 4-year universities, vocational school and Masters and Doctoral programs. Each year, up to 100 students who have demonstrated outstanding service to the community and overcoming obstacles receive scholarships and opportunities from Incight. After graduation, many scholars return to Incight to participate in employment program opportunities, adaptive recreation events, and volunteer!

Recipients of the 2016 Google Lime Scholarship will each receive a scholarship for the academic year. Scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of candidates’ academic background and demonstrated passion for computer science – $10,000 for those studying in the US and $5,000 for those studying in Canada (based on tuition costs). Must be a student with a visible or invisible disability (defined as someone who has, or considers themselves to have, a long-term, or recurring, issue that impacts one or more major activities that others may consider to be a daily function); this definition also includes the perception among others that a disability exists. We know that 90% of disabilities on campus are invisible, and candidates with all disabilities are encouraged to apply.

The AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability is awarded annually to a deserving student with a disability who is pursuing undergraduate/graduate studies (must be at least enrolled as a Junior in college) in an accredited university who is pursuing studies related to the health and disability, to include, but not limited to public health, health promotion, disability studies, disability research, rehabilitation engineering, audiology, disability policy, special education and majors that will impact quality of life of persons with disabilities.

The NBCUniversal Tony Coelho Media Scholarship will offer four scholarships, which can be used for the spring, summer, or fall semesters of 2015, to 2nd year associate students; undergraduate sophomores, juniors, and seniors; and graduate students with disabilities who are pursuing communications or media-related degrees. Each recipient will receive $5,625 for tuition and fees at their college or university.
Boster Bio Scholarship Fund
The $1,000 (USD) scholarship will be awarded to one passionate student, with the aim of reducing some of their day-to-day financial obstacles so they can focus on their studies.

The Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarships offer financial assistance to two graduating seniors with documented learning disabilities who are pursuing post-secondary education. The Anne Ford Scholarship was first awarded in 2002; in 2009, with a generous donation from Anne’s daughter, Allegra, the award was renamed the Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship and granted to two students as two separate scholarships.

Each year, the Lighthouse Guild scholarship program helps outstanding and deserving legally blind high school students from across the country attend college with scholarships of up to $10,000. Scholarships are based on strong academic accomplishments and merit, and provide additional financial support to help students make a successful transition from high school to a college or university of their choice. Candidates are not required to demonstrate financial need. An additional scholarship of up to $10,000 is awarded to one student applying to, or currently attending, graduate school.

In 2000, Founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board, Nancy Davenport-Ennis established the Scholarship for Survivors program to honor these individuals by offering educational scholarships to those who have suffered (or are suffering) a life threatening disease or chronic condition. These students have, despite their disease/condition, excelled academically, served the community, and desire to pursue a secondary education.
The purpose of our scholarship program is to provide support to individuals that are legal residents of the United States of America, under the age of 25, who have been diagnosed with or treated for cancer and/or a chronic/life threatening disease within the past five years.

Recognizing the financial burdens that exist for many CF families, we developed the AbbVie CF Scholarship to honor young adults with CF as they pursue goals of higher education. Since 1993, we have awarded scholarship funds through this program totaling more than $2.5 million.

The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults is committed to helping young adults continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one. Many scholarships offered by UCF share similar applicant criteria. Applicants need only submit one application, which will be considered for any and all scholarships for which the student applies and is eligible. Applicants must have been between the ages of 15 and 39 during their own diagnosis/treatment or during the diagnosis/treatment of their parent or sibling. Scholarship winners will be awarded a total of $2500 over two academic semesters. Each scholarship winner is obligated to organize and run a bone marrow registry drive with the support of Delete Blood Cancer and There Goes My Hero.

The Baer Reintegration Scholarship is open to individuals diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder. Final diagnostic eligibility will be determined by an independent judging group. In order to be eligible for consideration for the Baer Reintegration Scholarship, applicants must:
- Have a documented diagnosis of bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder.
- To apply for a Reintegrtion scholarship, you must be currently receiving medical treatment for the illness, including medications and psychiatric follow-up.
- Be actively involved in rehabilitative or reintegrative efforts, such as clubhouse membership, part-time work, volunteer efforts or school enrollment or in competitive employment.
- Complete an application package that includes an application form, essay, transcripts (if applicable), recommendation forms from three references and school financial requirements.
