On February 4 and 5, CILA and LITS offered a workshop entitled “Spring Forward!” which covered simplifying and clarifying blended classes, managing group work, and employing various technology tools in an effort to strengthen hybrid teaching. Recordings of the sessions and resources are available below.
February 4 Opening Session
CILA Director Mary Titus gives an introduction to the workshop and comments briefly on student stress challenges and on avoiding busywork. Stephanie Montgomery (History and Asian Studies) and Christina Spiker (Art & Art History) share examples of their syllabi and discuss strategies creating patterns and predictability in blended classes.

February 5 Opening Session
CILA Director Mary Titus comments briefly on the value of integrating reflection into a class. Louis Epstein (Music) introduce key issues/techniques in managing group work. Jean Porterfield (Biology) shares examples from her syllabus and discusses strategies for short term group activities. Norman Lee (Biology) and DeAne Lagerquist (Religion) share assignments and discuss strategies for long-term, graded group projects.
