Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to:
- define key terms and concepts and use them correctly.
- use theoretical frameworks to assess visual media, and to integrate film and media theory into analytical work.
- examine visual media comparatively and cross-culturally.
- apply historical frameworks to assess and contextualize film and media practices.
- understand and practice the research methodologies that are common to the discipline.
- understand the mechanics of filmmaking and media production (which include screenwriting, scoring/composing, designing, acting, lighting, directing, editing).
- acknowledge and articulate film and media’s intersections with class, race, and gender.
