Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will:
- be able to sing with healthy vocal technique in styles that are appropriate to the specific genres of music theater
- compile a collection of appropriate audition songs and monologues (i.e. their “audition book”) which will prepare them for future auditions and performances.
- gain a basic level of music reading proficiency allowing them to perform with pitch, rhythmic, dynamic, and artistic accuracy and explore these principles through solo and ensemble work.
- apply acting techniques and methodologies developed in theater classes and performance experiences with personal awareness and self-expression to develop strong theatrical characters.
- develop basic proficiency in dance and movement and be able to follow and execute basic choreography as necessary in a music theater, operetta, or operatic productions.
- explore the vibrant history and diverse repertoire of the musical theater repertoire.
