[Faculty Handbook Category #3]
St. Olaf College is an equal opportunity employer. It is the policy of St. Olaf College to provide equal opportunity to all employees and applicants for employment in accordance with all applicable equal employment opportunity laws, directives and regulations of federal, state, and local governing bodies or agencies thereof.
St. Olaf College pledges its best efforts to avoid discrimination against any employee or applicant for employment because of an individual’s protected class status, including race, color, creed, national origin, sex, marital status, age, disability, sexual orientation, status with respect to public assistance or religion, except to the extent religion may be a consideration permitted under law.
The college does prefer faculty members who take seriously questions about the relationship of religion to learning. It does not insist on particular answers to religious questions, but it does expect faculty to take religious issues seriously.
Equal Opportunity Coordinator
The college’s Equal Opportunity Coordinator is the Director of Human Resources. The Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the college’s compliance with all state and federal equal opportunity laws to which the college is subject. The Coordinator receives and seeks to resolve complaints about discrimination on the basis of age, sex, race, religion, national origin, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, and status with respect to public assistance.
