St. Olaf celebrates Reunion Weekend

St. Olaf College welcomed more than 1,500 alumni and their families back to campus May 31 to June 2 to celebrate Reunion Weekend 2024.

Oles were invited to attend class socials, lightning talks with St. Olaf faculty and staff, a Q and A with St. Olaf President Susan Rundell Singer, and activities on the campus green, including a silent disco. St. Olaf students also led small groups on a new “St. Olaf Then and Now” walking tour that highlights the changes the campus has undergone throughout its history. These tours, held in honor of the college’s upcoming 150th anniversary, can also be self-guided by campus visitors using the guide on the St. Olaf Sesquicentennial web page.

“It was our pleasure to welcome St. Olaf alumni representing eight decades back to the Hill for Reunion Weekend 2024. Thank you to everyone who attended this memorable celebration of our Ole community – past, present, and future!”

The 50th Reunion, honoring Oles from the Class of 1974, arrived on campus a day early for a special reception to kick off the slate of events planned for their class. Their reunion events included a service of remembrance that featured a new choral setting of Psalm 23 composed by René Clausen ’74, conductor emeritus of the Concordia Choir at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. Other 50th reunion events included class meals, a Saturday night sing-a-long, and short Ole Talks by classmates, faculty, and staff. As is tradition, the Class of 1974 also presented the college with a class gift — and it was the third-largest in the college’s history, totaling more than $11 million.
