Creation Curriculum Coming Soon

By Benjamin Fisher ’27

‘Hello, my name is Benjamin Fisher and I’m currently a first-year at St. Olaf College and a fellow for the Nourishing Vocation Project. One of the initiatives that I’ve been working on for the past couple of months is a curriculum that teaches kids about the creation story in Genesis 1 and 2 and how God entrusted us with stewarding His creation. This curriculum will include Bible readings, interactive activities, discussions, and songs to teach kids about how we can live more sustainable lives and take care of the environment around us. There is a curriculum for kids from elementary and below and another for kids from fifth grade and above. While both are similar, the version for upper elementary and middle schoolers goes more in-depth with the causes of climate change and some of the solutions that kids can help implement. Both versions include 10 weekly sessions that each take 40–60 minutes to complete. The order and pace of the curriculum can also be changed to accommodate daily sessions for programs such as Vacation Bible School. I hope that teaching kids the importance of the environment and how God entrusted us to manage it will inspire them to be more mindful of how they live their lives in a warming world as well as have a newfound respect and appreciation for the Creator of the Universe.’

The full curriculum will be coming soon.
