Statement
The Dean of Students or their designee has the authority to impose an interim suspension or interim removal from college housing when a student’s presence poses a substantial and immediate threat or could disrupt normal college functions.

Purpose
To provide a mechanism for temporarily removing or suspending a student from campus or college housing to ensure the safety of the college community, protect the student’s well-being, and maintain normal college operations while conduct proceedings are pending.

Interim suspension or housing removal becomes immediately effective without prior notice.

It may be imposed to:

Ensure the safety and well-being of the college community.

Protect the student’s own physical or emotional safety.

Prevent disruption of or interference with normal college operations.

During interim suspension, students may be denied access to residence halls, classes, campus activities, or other privileges as determined appropriate.

The student will have the opportunity to meet with the Dean of Students or their designee within five business days to discuss:

The reliability of the information regarding the student’s conduct.

Whether the student’s continued presence poses an immediate threat to themselves, others, or college operations.

The Dean of Students or designee has final authority to determine whether the interim suspension continues after the meeting.

Consequences of Violating this Policy

Failure to comply with an interim suspension or removal from housing may result in further disciplinary action.

Students who ignore restrictions may face additional sanctions, including escalation to full suspension or expulsion.

Denial of access to classes or campus activities during the interim period is considered an excused absence.
