The St. Olaf College Post Office assists students, faculty, and staff with a variety of postal services, provides mailing supplies, and handles all incoming and outgoing mail. Any packages containing substances not allowed on campus (alcohol, firearms, etc.) will be returned to sender.
THIRD-PARTY DELIVERY NOTICE!
There has been a large increase in companies using “third-party” services to deliver packages to campus. Unlike USPS, FedEx, UPS, and DHL, a third-party delivery service uses local independent contractors/gig workers to deliver packages. Often, these are same-day delivery orders. We can not guarantee secured delivery due to inconsistent delivery times.
Please Note: The post office is not responsible for packages left in unsecured locations and/or after business hours.
- The post office strongly recommends not to use same-day delivery services like Instacart. This includes Walmart and Target same day deliveries. These options do not include tracking or have complete recipient names. Items sent this way are more likely to be lost or have an unidentifiable recipient.
- Amazon Prime Members should always select standard shipping to ensure packages are received by the post office. Choosing same-day or faster options outside of post office hours may result in packages being lost, stolen, or misdelivered.
- Use caution when ordering from the following companies. They are known to use third-party delivery: Walmart, Temu, Shein, TikTok, AliExpress, Lululemon, A&F, and H&M.
The St. Olaf Post Office has a black parcel drop box located inside the vestibule at the front entrance of Buntrock Commons, near the Scheduling Office (opposite the bookstore).

- IF YOU SEE AN UNATTENDED PACKAGE ON CAMPUS:
- Bring it to Buntrock and place it in the drop box.
- If you are unable to bring package(s) to Buntrock, please email post-office@stolaf.edu with the subject “Stray Package” and include a picture of the package(s)/location details so that post office staff can retrieve it.
- DO NOT attempt to deliver the package to its recipient yourself.
If you are notified by a third-party delivery service that your package has been delivered outside of post office hours and need assistance locating your package, come to the post office during business hours for help. Have your tracking information ready.

Yes, we sell stamps and more! We are a full service post office offering all kinds of shipping services. You can purchase postage to ship via USPS or FedEx at the St. Olaf Post Office.
We do not sell boxes, but we provide recycled boxes, envelopes, and stuffing for free! We are able to provide free packaging for most small shipments. If you are shipping something large or an odd size, you may need to bring your own packaging.
Packing tape can be used starting at 25 cents or you can buy a full roll of tape for $3. We also sell multiple sizes of letter envelopes and padded mailers.
USPS Priority and FedEx Express packaging is available at the post office window.
PERISHABLE PACKAGES
Ensure your perishable goods don’t go bad by following these procedures.
We have the ability to store small perishable medication. You must email post-office@stolaf.edu in advance of your delivery to ensure proper storage.
We do NOT have cold storage large enough to accommodate meal kits like HelloFresh or Factor. Perishable items must be picked up within five business days, but ideally are picked up the day they arrive. Students will be notified if an item is perishable in the package notification subject line. If you are a parent sending a perishable package, please notify your student so they know to pick it up as soon as possible.
The Post Office reserves the right to discard any perishable packages that have not been picked up within five business days. Students will be notified before an item is discarded.
The post office does NOT accept groceries or hot food deliveries (Whole Foods, DoorDash, etc.). Be cautious when ordering Whole Foods deliveries in general as they do not attach names to the bags.
Students must meet the delivery person themselves if they are receiving this type of delivery.
