All reunion celebrants are invited to attend this casual conversation about how to continue making an impact after retirement. Oles will be invited to share their experiences giving back in the public service and nonprofit sectors.
Facilitators Ember Reichgott Junge ’74 and Jon Pratt ’74 have served in a variety of roles at organizations like Lutheran Social Service, the Minnesota State Senate, and the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, among others. Whether you’ve already retired or intend to do so in the near future, you are invited to join this discussion and explore how to continue learning, leading, and serving well into your “third chapter” of life. |

Root(ed Beer Floats) Lutheran Center Open House The colleges and universities affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America recently collaborated on a joint statement defining what it means to be a college of the church in the 21st century. “Rooted and Open” names a “common calling that is deeply rooted in the Lutheran intellectual tradition and boldly open to insights from other traditions.” Stop by the Lutheran Center for a delicious root beer float and hear more about how their annual programming provides opportunities at St. Olaf to explore this calling. Pints and Politics Join Professor Chris Chapp, Director of St. Olaf’s Institute for Freedom and Community, for a casual conversation on the campus green to learn more about the Institute’s mission to encourage free inquiry and the meaningful debate of important political and social issues. Honoring the history of taverns serving as political meeting places during colonial times, beer will be served! NAHA Pop-up Exhibit The Norwegian-American Historical Association (NAHA) is a leader in the field of ethnic migration studies. The NAHA archival collection includes letters, ledgers, books, periodicals, photographs, diaries, and audio and video recordings. The materials bring life to thousands of individuals, organizations, and businesses comprising the Norwegian diaspora in North America since migration began in the early 19th century. Kierkegaard Library Visit the Howard V. and Edna H. Hong Kierkegaard Library. This special collection and center for research and publication serves as an international hub for scholarship of Søren Kierkegaard and of existentialism more broadly. It serves students, scholars, faculty, alumni, and anyone interested in the writings and ideas of the Danish philosopher. Housing approximately 20,000 book volumes, it comprises many editions matching those owned by Kierkegaard himself as a part of the Library’s ongoing goal of recreating his personal library. |
