Upper Midwest Rebild Scholarship

Purpose: The Upper Midwest Rebild Scholarship provides opportunities for college students to develop and promote cultural and friendship ties between the United States and Denmark by studying at a Danish university, including DIS.
Awards based on: Students who are of Danish heritage and/or have demonstrated a strong interest and commitment to Denmark and “matters Danish” are encouraged to apply. Students must be US citizens, permanent residents, and attending a U.S. college or university.
Award amount: Scholarship range from $1,000 to $2,000.

Fellowships and Grants for Study in Scandinavia
Administered by: The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF)
Duration: Academic Year
Study locations: Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden, Norway)
Purpose: Research and/or study in Scandinavia. ASF offers awards to American students, scholars, professionals and artists for study and/or research in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden. Fellowships of up to $23,000 are intended to support an academic year-long stay, and priority is given to students at the graduate level who need to spend time at foreign academic or research institutions. Grants of up to $5,000 are considered more suitable for shorter research visits, both on the graduate or post-doctoral level. Funding is available to candidates in all fields.
ASF also awards fellowships and grants to Scandinavians. These are made on the recommendation of ASF’s cooperating organizations abroad, with each country setting its own deadline. Contact information for ASF’s cooperating organizations in Scandinavia can be found on the ASF website.

Procedure: The host university in Japan that has an inter-university exchange agreement with the university to which you are enrolled in your own country applies to the managing director of the Association of International Education, Japan. The Bridging Project offers scholarships to American undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan.

The Toshizo Watanabe Study Abroad Scholarship Program
The Toshizo Watanabe Endowed Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to Japanese and American undergraduate and graduate students pursuing study abroad program or international study in either the United States or Japan.
Administered by: U.S.-Japan Council
Purpose: The Toshizo Watanabe Endowed Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to undergraduates/graduate students for a semester or year-long study abroad program in either the United States or Japan.
Eligibility:
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Currently in good academic standing at an accredited college or university in the U.S.
- Will be enrolled in a credit-bearing course of study at a college, university or approved academic center in Japan in the upcoming academic year
- Demonstrates financial need for international study (i.e. Without financial assistance or support, would not be able to study abroad)
- (Preferred) Applicants who have been raised by a single parent or who have lost both parents
- (Preferred) Applicants without significant international travel or study experience
- (Preferred) First in family to attend/graduate from college (i.e. first-generation)
- (Priority) The priority for the scholarship is undergraduates who are studying abroad for a year or less. Graduate students and international degree-seeking students may also apply, however the maximum amount of an award is $25,000 for one year.

King Olav V Norwegian-American Heritage Fund

Eligibility: Must be female, an American or Norwegian citizen, enrolled in a Minnesota college or university, and have completed at least one year of study. Women in fields where women are under-represented (e.g. sciences, mathematics) are especially encouraged to apply

Purpose: CIEE Gilman Go Global Grants honor the commitment students show to studying abroad and are awarded even if a student doesn’t receive the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship.
Eligibility: Must be participating in a CIEE program, be pell-eligible, and have applied for the Gilman Scholarship by the deadline. Once a student has applied for a Gilman Scholarship from the U.S. Department of State and completed a CIEE scholarship application, they are instantly qualified for the CIEE Gilman Go Global Grant of $2,500.

Webster University in Vienna, Austria
Administered by: Webster University – Webster International Network of Schools (WINS) program
Purpose: The WINS Travel Award is designed to increase the international opportunities for WINS students. The WINS Travel Award is provided directly to accepted affiliated student and covers up to one thousand dollars ($1,000) toward the round-trip coach airline ticket. The award can be used for this Fall or Spring terms. Webster’s Office of Study Abroad will coordinate with the travel agency and serve as liaison between the WINS student and the agency on all ticketing.
Eligibility:
- Be a degree-seeking student of a member of the Webster International Network of Schools (WINS).
- Be accepted into a Webster University study abroad program at an international location.
- Be in good academic, social, and financial standing.
- Not receive tuition remission or tuition exchange benefits from Webster University.
Amount: Up to $1,000 towards airline round-trip ticket from TravelPlex, Webster University’s travel agency.
