St. Olaf Summer Programs

The Smith Center for Global Engagement has three St. Olaf approved summer programs. Students will earn St. Olaf credit when they attend the following summer programs.

Investigate Programs

Browse our list of St. Olaf approved international and domestic summer programs.
Attend the Smith Center Study Abroad/Away Fair during the fall semester (usually late October/early November). Find the exact date and time by visiting our Smith Center Calendar.

Get Advising

Make an appointment with a Smith Center Advisor to learn more about study abroad/away summer programs.
Talk with your academic advisor to learn more about how specific program(s) will fit your academic interests, needs and requirements.
Meet with the Registrar’s Office to ensure credits will transfer.
If applicable, attend Interest Meetings for selected study abroad/away programs.

Complete the Smith Center and/or Program Application

Search for and select the program(s) to which you wish to apply and click the “Apply Now” button.
All pieces of the on-line application must be completed by the deadlines listed online.
Budapest Semester in Mathematics and Budapest Semester in Mathematics Education applicants will need to complete a Smith Center application. Those applying to study at the Oslo Summer School (ISS) will apply directly to ISS. Contact iss@admin.uio.no for link to apply.

Selection of Participants

Notification of application status will be sent directly to the student’s email. Pay attention to the email that is linked with your application! The Smith Center recommends that you use your St. Olaf email.
The program provider will contact you to register for courses and housing. They will also support you in the visa process (if necessary) and provide any pre-departure orientation.

Financial Aid

Students are automatically considered for financial aid from the Smith Center
Students can receive up to 50% coverage by scholarships
Payment goes directly to the program + out-of-pocket expenses
Financial aid is considered on a need-bases as follows (same as January Term)
