Description: In the 1870s, Englishman Sir Richard Wallace gave 50 water fountains to the city of Paris to provide citizens with potable water and reduce disease. These water fountains still provide Parisians and tourists access to fresh, clean water today. While most of the fountains are painted a dark green, several are painted other colors, such as this bright red one found in the 13th Arrondissement on Avenue d'Ivry.
