Title: Palm Sunday at the Sepulchre

Description: The usually packed-to-the-walls Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Old City of Jerusalem was, astonishingly, almost empty save for the clergy that reside there early on the morning of Palm Sunday. The building, originally built by the Byzantines over the spot believed to be the tomb of Christ, has been partly destroyed, rebuilt, and haphazardly modified many times over the centuries, and is now divided between no less than six Christian denominations, with every wall and tile square demarcated off to one denomination or another, reflecting in miniature the heavily fought-over Old City.
