Introducing The Sophomore Bucket List
There are so many ways to get connected to the St. Olaf community during your sophomore year. To help, we’ve created The Sophomore Bucket List. The Sophomore Bucket List is a list of 30 different experiences that encompass all aspects of life on the Hill. Some of these items are experiences that you have already completed or are currently a part of your St. Olaf experience which is awesome! Others may be new to you and may spark a new interest.
We recognize that not all 30 items are going to appeal to everyone so we are encouraging Oles to check at least 15 items off their Sophomore Bucket List before the end of their sophomore year:
- Be Involved in a Student Organization
- Attend a Co-Curricular Fair
- Attend Two Programming Board, Lion’s Pause, or SGA Events
- Attend Two On-Campus Music Events
- Attend Two Home Athletic Events
- Attend Major Declaration Celebration
- Participate in Off-Campus Study
- Utilize five Academic Success Center resources
- Participate in Undergraduate Research
- Attend the Academic Exploration Expo
- Hold a Leadership Role in a Campus Organization
- Hold an Employment Position On or Off-Campus
- Participate in a St. Olaf Music Ensemble
- Compete on a St. Olaf Athletic Team
- Participate in a Service/Volunteer Project
- Attend the Kick-Off to Sophomore Year
- Attend a “Sophomore Connection” Event
- Take an Academic Civic Engagement Class
- Networking with a Staff/Faculty Member
- Network with a St. Olaf Alum
- Attend the “Halfway Soirée”
- Meet with a Piper Center Career Coach
- Attend a Piper Center Event
- Check-in with a Piper Center Peer Advisor
- Visit Office Hours at Least Once
- Attend the SophoMORE Symposium
- Attend Two Wellness Center events
- Participate in a Recreation Program
- Take Part in an Intramural Block
- Connect with a Staff Member on Faith and Spirituality

How to get started
Want to hear some good news? You more than likely have already started checking items off your Sophomore Bucket List simply by getting involved on campus. Nice work! Now we challenge you to keep going. Review the list above and select an item or two to try!
When it comes time to earning your Bucket List items, we try to make it as easy as possible. There are three ways you can check off experiences from your list:
Check-In at Events
A number of both Sophomore-specific and general campus events count towards your Bucket List. Simply swipe your student ID at eligible events and those items will automatically be earned!
Get Involved Across Campus
The majority of Bucket List items are checked off by simply being involved on campus. Items like being involved in a music ensemble, having a campus job, and studying abroad are earned automatically!
