Extending the Classroom Into the Community

The Crossroads in the Buntrock Commons
Over 100 students from nine spring and interim semester courses will presented on a wide range of academic civic engagement projects.

Civic Stories Project
Students have created photo/audio essays that aim to distill community participants’ civic stories. Final multi-media products will be utilized by the League of Women Voters to encourage voter registration and informed civic participation.

Academic Civic Engagement (ACE) is an approach to teaching and learning that extends the classroom into the community and prepares students for informed and active citizenship. It challenges students to apply academic knowledge and skills to address community issues or contribute to public life as an integrated component of an academic course.
