Purpose of Policy
The purpose of this policy is to define the extent and range of the St. Olaf College Archives’ collection.
Policy
The College Archives collects materials relating to the history and culture of St. Olaf College that have
long-term, indefinite administrative, legal, fiscal, or historical value. The majority of these records are
created or collected by the St. Olaf College administrative and academic departments in their work
administering and managing the college and campus. Other key records are generated by faculty,
student, and alumni organizations, committees, and groups. Finally, the Archives collects the personal
papers of St. Olaf College faculty, staff, and alumni, and on a selective basis, materials that document
the College’s relationship with Northfield, the surrounding counties and communities, the Lutheran
Church, and the Norwegian-American community.
