The College Archives serves as the home for college materials of enduring historical significance. We are actively seeking department records, professional and personal papers of faculty and staff, records from student organizations, and other items related to the history of the college and its operations. For a more detailed listing of appropriate materials, please see the College Archives section of St. Olaf’s records retention schedule.
To transfer records to the College Archives, please reach out to Archives staff at librarycollectiondonor@stolaf.edu. You will be contacted by a staff member about setting up a time to bring your materials in. Before a deposit can be made, an Archival Deposit Information Form must be filled out. A completed form is needed for all deposits. Please print the form, complete the first page, and bring it to the Archives with your department/office’s deposit.
Each college department/office/entity is responsible for organizing their files, culling duplicates, and arranging deposits to the Archives. Please work with your student employees to complete this work before depositing material with us. We do not accept blank forms, unused material, or replies to questionnaires if that information is preserved elsewhere.
To ensure safe transfer, items deposited in the College Archives from St. Olaf College departments and offices must be handed off directly to an Archives staff member, by appointment only. Please do not leave items at the Library Circulation Desk or in the Distinctive Collections area.
