That’s intriguing. How do we get started?
The process begins with an initial consultation between you and the CILA director, Nancy Thompson, to figure out your department/program needs. Send an email to thompsn@stolaf.edu to set up a meeting.
What could CILA help my department/program with?
Some possible issues include:
- Artificial Intelligence. Last year, there were many helpful sessions about AI for the whole community (check out the resources here: https://libraryguides.stolaf.edu/ai). But what about the discipline-specific issues your department/program is facing? CILA can connect your department/program with campus experts to help you and your colleagues address AI-related challenges you all are encountering in the classroom.
- Inclusive Pedagogy, Inclusive Curriculum. Our departments and programs vary widely in their pedagogies and approaches to creating curriculum. What does pedagogical and curricular inclusivity look like in your discipline? Do some students come to college and face barriers to succeeding in your academic program? Why is that, and how can a department restructure a curriculum and use pedagogies that remove barriers so that all students have the possibility of succeeding? Let CILA set you up with campus experts who can help you to address the specific issues your department is facing.
- ACE and Engaged Department work. Is your department/program interested in developing Academic Civic Engagement components for courses in your curriculum? Or would you all like to explore what it means to be an Engaged Department? Let CILA connect you to our campus experts and to other colleagues who have gone through the process.
- Mission Statements and ILOs. Would your department/program thinking about re-writing your mission statement or your ILOs? Would you like some guidance and/or inspiration?! Let CILA connect you with colleagues who can help!
- Anything you need! Insert your department/program needs here and contact CILA! We’re here to help.
