Project Description
The Women Heads of State project builds off Prof. Richard’s book-length research into the rhetorical performances of women who have been heads of state in the contemporary nation-state context. The project sought to map where women have ascended to the highest national power, where they were educated, and where they performed notable speech acts. Currently, 83 women have held such positions. The project would map where women have performed national leadership, with a profile page for each leader bringing together video, audio, textual, and photographic documentation of their speech acts.
Substantial progress was made over the summer of 2014 in compiling the data and artifacts and populating an Omeka collection. Ultimately Omeka proved not to be an suitable platform for this project.
