Description: A man named Olav Haraldsson would tragically lose his life here in the Battle of Stiklestad. This battle was an attempt to regain his throne as the King of Norway. This man was a former Vikinger (the term "Viking" is actually the term used to describe the expeditions or activities that the person or "Vikinger" completed), who would then go on to spread Christianity throughout Norway. With these actions and recorded miracles following his death, he would become canonized and become Saint Olav or Saint Olaf, otherwise known as the man who our college is named after! A millennium after his death, our group of St. Olaf College students and professors visited this site that was so important to both Norway and our own history. Location: Stiklestad, Norway
