Reception for Parents
Friday, April 7, and Friday, April 21
Parents of admitted students are cordially invited to meet other parents of admitted students and members of the college’s senior leadership team at a special reception in St. Paul, Minnesota. We will host two events, one prior to each Admitted Student Day, Friday, April 8, or Friday, April 21. Please join us from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at The Saint Paul Hotel, 350 Market Street, St. Paul, just 10 minutes from the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and about 45 minutes north of the St. Olaf campus. Please register for this reception on the Admitted Student Day registration form.
For families planning to stay over night in St. Paul, please ask The Saint Paul Hotel for the special St. Olaf rate, which is available on the nights of April 6-8 and April 20-22. To reserve a room, please call The Saint Paul Hotel directly at 800-292-9292 and ask for the St. Olaf College room block, or go online to make a reservation at The Saint Paul Hotel. (For ASD 1 use code 170406SOC or for ASD 2 use code 170420SOC). These rooms will be held until March 22 for the first Admitted Student Day program and until March 29 for the second Admitted Student Day program.
Campus Visits (including class visits) prior to Admitted Student Days
Many admitted students and their guests (usually one or two family members) elect to visit the campus on the Friday before Admitted Student Day. Students may attend classes, meet faculty, coaches, or conductors. Guest may tour the campus and enjoy a meal in Stav Hall. We are eager to assist in crafting a schedule that meets your needs. We’ll have a number of class visit options for Friday, April 7 (before the Admitted Student Day 1 program) or Friday, April 21 (before the Admitted Student Day 2 program). Please use the registration links above to schedule a visit and indicate what you would like to do while on campus. If you wish to attend a class, please plan to arrive on campus in the morning, when there are more classes available for you to visit. (There are more limited class visit options in the afternoon).
Overnight visits for Admitted Student Days
You can indicate your interest in an overnight visit on the campus visit registration form. You will be “camping out” in your host student’s room, so please plan to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, and necessary personal items. We ask that you plan to arrive between 5 and 7 p.m. (if the Friday overnight visit is your first event on Friday); in general, we will also arrange for you to meet your host before dinner. If you are already on campus earlier in the day, we will schedule your meeting with the overnight host accordingly. Please submit your request for a Friday visit no later than March 31 (for the April 8 Admitted Student Day program) or April 14 (for the April 22 Admitted Student Day program).
Admitted Student Day programs
The April 8 and April 22 Admitted Student Day programs are very similar each day (same session offerings, some different panelists and presenters). The day begins with check-in at the Buntrock Commons and breakfast in Stav Hall. The formal program begins in Boe Memorial Chapel at 9 a.m. The day includes a variety of information sessions by faculty, staff, and students, plus lunch and campus tours. The program ends around 3 p.m. More detailed information about the program is available at 2017 ASD Schedule.
We’re looking forward to seeing you in April. If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Office at 800-800-3025 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
