Kyle Rittenhouse Verdict

Dear colleagues,

Today, the community in Kenosha that sought justice for Anthony Huber, Joseph Rosenbaum, andl Gaige Grosskreutz is mourning. In August of 2020, Kyle Rittenhouse brought an AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle to a protest in Kenosha, where he shot and killed two men, Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and wounded another, Gaige Grosskreutz. Today, after four days of deliberation, a jury acquitted Rittenhouse on all counts. The verdict adds to the pain and frustration of many members of our community, and has undoubtedly exacerbated wounds that are not fully healed.

There is more work to do in our country and on our campus towards equity, accountability, and justice. In the following days, let’s pay special attention to how we treat, nurture, and care for each other. Nurturing community and supporting each other during difficult times is at the core of who we are.

Support and Resources:

Sincerely,
María
