The Music Department has assembled a faculty of outstanding performer and educators to teach the hundreds of music lessons St Olaf College offers.
Students register each semester in our Music Performance Studies Programs.
Different disciplines are offered for music lessons including: all woodwinds, brass, strings, percussion, voice, piano, organ, harpsichord, harp, hardanger fiddle, and composition.

Composition lessons are offered for our Composition majors. Lessons will help students hone in their composition chops and have a one on one with our faculty composers.
Our organ studio is well known for excellence. Organ lessons are typically held in Boe Chapel on the beautiful Holtkamp Organ.
Percussion Lessons are offered on all disciplines of percussion. Drum set lessons are also offered.
Piano Lessons are offered for our majors as well as anyone interested in furthering their keyboard skills. Collaborative Piano lessons are available to students who enjoy working on their accompanist skills and jazz piano is offered for those wanting to hone in their jazz chops. Harpsichord is also offered for those interested in Baroque studies.
String lessons include instruction on violin, viola, cello and bass and harp. We also offer baroque string instrument lessons through Collegium Musicum.
Voice studies are very popular at St Olaf. Our 11 voice faculty teach hundreds of lessons a week. Lessons include all voice types and all genres from classical to broadway and everything in between.
Our Woodwind Studios offer lessons on Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, and Saxophone. For our jazz students we offer Jazz Saxophone lessons. We also offer historic wind lessons through Collegium Musicum.
