Music major applicants should submit the required repertoire shown below for the desired degree program. All music major applicants will be automatically considered for scholarships.
We would like to encourage you to consider a work by composers from historically underrepresented groups.
Jazz Saxophone:
- Two Jazz Standards: Perform two contrasting jazz standards with a play-along track or live accompaniment. Play the melody and improvise. A jazz standard is a tune performed and recorded frequently by established jazz artists. Please limit each selection to no more than three minutes. For example, you could perform a blues piece and another standard.
- Solo Transcription: Perform a transcription of a solo by an established jazz saxophonist along with the recording. You may slow the tempo if needed. While a transcription typically refers to a written solo, it’s not required to be written down—you can play it by ear.
