Music Major applicants only
- First-year students do not enter the composition major their first year. Students who intend to pursue a composition major must apply for admission to the music major on their principal instrument or voice, and indicate “Composition” in their secondary instrument choice on the music application.
- At the live audition, students who have indicated composition on their application will meet briefly with faculty to present and discuss their portfolio. If unable to attend the live audition, a representative portfolio (scores and/or recordings) can be submitted in lieu of the interview.
- If a composition portfolio is submitted it 1) supports the student’s application to the music major on their primary instrument, and 2) is eligible for scholarship consideration.
