Music major applicants should submit the required repertoire shown below for the desired degree program. All music major applicants will be automatically considered for scholarships.
Non-music major applicants should submit the same repertoire as required for the BA music majors.
We would like to encourage you to consider a work by composers from historically underrepresented groups.
B.A. music major, music education, non-music major
- Two pieces in contrasting styles. Approximately 10 minutes total.
- Scales — ascending and descending, full range of instrument
- Chromatic — from low B-flat to high F, slurred
- Two major scales of your choice
B.M. performance major
- Selections should demonstrate both lyricism and technical dexterity
- One fast movement from a concerto or sonata by one of the following: Cimarosa, Marcello, Handel, Telemann, Haydn, or Mozart
- One movement from a piece of contrasting period or style
- One étude from Forty Progressive Melodies (Barret Oboe Method) or 48 Famous Studies (Ferling)
- Scales — ascending and descending, full range of instrument
- Chromatic
- D major, Eb flat major, C harmonic minor
