*This model assumes that the individual has no prior experience in French; higher coursework can be taken if prerequisites are met or if the student tests into a more advanced couse. All students with previous experience in French must take the placement test.
CREDIT FOR PREVIOUS COURSEWORK
- An AP score of 5 or IB score of HL-7 leads to placement in French 25X. AP score of 4 or IB score of HL-6 leads to placement in French 232. Questions about transfer of credit for AP (Advanced Placement), IB (International Baccalaureate), Cambridge A Levels, PSEO (Postsecondary Education Option) and CIS (College in the Schools) and more advanced courses should initially be directed to the Maria Vendetti (vendet1@stolaf.edu). Credit for transfer courses is done in consultation with the Registrar, the French Placement Director, and the French Section Head.
Placement
- All students with previous experience in French MUST take the placement test and must register for the course they place into. Any questions about the placement text should be directed to the French Section Head, Maria Vendetti (vendet1@stolaf.edu).
