Health Insurance Policy
St. Olaf requires that all students enrolled at the College have adequate health insurance coverage. This requirement is in place for the protection of our students.
Domestic Students
St. Olaf does not offer a school sponsored domestic insurance plan. Students must have insurance that covers emergency care in Minnesota, but are not required to have coverage based in Minnesota.
International Students
The international student insurance policy is offered through LewerMark. Please visit LewerMark’s designated St. Olaf website for details. The premium (which includes a grant to offset the cost of the premium) for the 2026-2027 academic year is $1,000 and will be billed in two installments – one installment in the fall, and one in the spring.
International students receiving need-based aid will receive a grant to lower the costs to $1,000 for the year (about $500 per semester).
2026-2027 Enrollment Information
International students will be automatically enrolled in LewerMark’s plan. There is not an option to waive coverage.
Coverage begins August 15, 2026 and ends August 14, 2027.

Understanding Healthcare
Learning how to navigate health care in the U.S. is not only a daunting task for many St. Olaf students, health literacy is a national concern for many people of all ages.
In response, the Understanding Health Care page was made by St. Olaf students in order to provide students with the tools and support to help them tools to navigate health care with more confidence. By guiding our research based on student data along with staff and student interviews, this webpage covers a wide array of health care issues that students identify struggling with.
