A designer, fight director, and sometimes actor, Todd started his career in the theatre as an actor, and claims to be in retirement. He was last seen as the Host of the Garter in the Northfield Arts Guild production of The Merry Wives of Windsor. He has performed many roles including Tybalt in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and Ferdinand, King of Navarre in Loves Labors Lost.
Todd has an MFA in Theatrical Design and Production, having designed scenery, lighting or sound for more than 100 productions. Most recently he designed scenery for A New Brain and the world premier of The Aerodynamics of Accident at St. Olaf College, scenery and sound for Wiley and the Hairy Man at Intergenerational Theatre Productions in Minneapolis, scenery and sound for Merry Wives of Windsor at the Northfield Arts Guild and King Lear for the MN Shakespeare Project. He is the Resident Designer for Natural Theatricals in Washington, DC, and has designed for the Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival, Wayside Theatre (VA), Theatre Charlotte (NC), and for the Northfield Arts Guild (MN).
Todd’s designs have toured internationally to Russia, Latvia, and Finland. He had his Off-Off Broadway debut with the world premier of Sus Manos in 2005. Todd is the Technical Director and member of the Design and Tech Faculty in the Theatre Department at St. Olaf College and designs freelance through his company Dramatic Designs, Inc. Todd is a member of the Society of American Fight Directors. He works with his wife Mishia producing theatre through their production organization Down the Rabbit Hole Productions. In his free time Todd likes to write fiction, read fantasy/sci-fi books, do metal work, woodcarving and 3d art projects.
