There are many resources available on-campus and off-campus for students who need support in their ACE experience–before, during, and after.
Logistics and Set-Up for ACE Experience
- Are you an international student? You may need to obtain Curricular Practical Training (CPT) authorization prior to beginning your ACE Project. Please contact the Designated School Official (DSO) in the Taylor Center to make sure that you’ll be able to work on the project in the ACE course or if you have any questions.
- Need help paying for transportation or other ACE course related expenses? Typically, students are not asked to pay out of pocket for ACE course related expenses. However, if you need mileage reimbursement or find yourself paying for ACE course expenses, please reach out to your faculty member first to discuss and coordinate with the ACE office.
- Need an accommodation? Students can find academic accommodations by speaking with their professor and talking with the Center for Advising and Academic Support(CAAS). The ACE office can help with communicating about accommodations with community partners.
Emotional Well-Being
- Have you had a negative or positive experience with a community partner because of an identity(ies) you hold? Please contact the ACE office. We are here to support you and to address harms caused through principles of restorative justice. On the flip side, we want to to know about partners who are affirming and inclusive so that we can continue to recognize their work, build deeper and longer-lasting partnerships with them, and continue to provide students with experiences in those affirming spaces.
- Unsure of where to start or what you might need? Consider visiting the Taylor Center, SSS, TRIO, or RA/resident life staff to talk with staff about your experience.
- Need to talk with someone confidentially? Make an appointment at Boe House, with College Ministry, or visit the Wellness Center.
- Experienced a micro/macroaggression? Use the Bias Incident Reporting Form to report any form of unwelcome conduct that you experienced or witnessed based on your identity.
- Experienced sexual harassment or assault? Support for students who have experienced gender-based discrimination can be found through the Title IX office at St. Olaf. There are also resources for people who have experienced sexual assault or harassment by talking with a peer at the Sexual Assault Resource Network (SARN).
