CURI has funds available for the fall semester to support student engagement in faculty-mentored scholarly or artistic projects. This is the first of two requests for proposals, with the second coming in August.
A funded project will pay students $13/hour to practice their discipline in a professional manner (e.g. run experiments rather than organize a lab; engage with primary resources rather than enter data into a spreadsheet) and result in some sort of deliverable (e.g. a paper (not necessarily submitted for publication), poster, talk, recital). Students may not also receive academic credit for the same work (e.g. be enrolled in a 396 or 398 course and earn wages at the same time).
Every faculty member is eligible to apply for fall semester funding by completing this form. The first round of proposals is due by 5pm on April 30. The second round will be due mid-August.
Project ideas may be new or continuing, student workers may be new or continuing, and having obtained funding during the summer will not preclude you from obtaining funding in the fall.
Funding decisions will be made by the CURI Director and Advisory Board, and will be based on available funding and student impact. Attention will be paid to distributing funds across all five Faculties.
Please email curi@stolaf.edu if you have any questions about this opportunity.
