DiSCO - Digital Scholarship Center

The Digital Scholarship Center at St. Olaf (DiSCO) represents a unique partnership between IT and Library staff, St. Olaf Faculty and students to promote creativity and innovative practice in higher education. The DiSCO serves as a beautiful study and meeting space in Rolvaag Memorial Library with a host of resources to foster the sustainable integration of technologies into all aspects of academic life.

The DiSCO features:

  • Open, collaborative study and work spaces
  • Computer stations equipped with media production and design software
  • Computer and Active Learning classroom – RML 492
  • Large-format printer
  • 3D printing and scanning
  • Virtual Reality 
  • Drone aerial photography & videography
  • Audio recording booth
  • Multi-Use AV Room
  • Video recording Lab
  • Creative Makerspace – The CAVE


The majority of the DiSCO and the Cave will be available during all library open hours, with the exception of the Audio and Video Rooms and Production Lab, which will be available only during the DiSCO staffed hours (see staffing for current hours).  Instructional Technology staff and Digital Scholarship Interns (DSI’s) will be available during these hours to support the use of these spaces and to provide training and consultation in various technology.


The DiSCO is staffed by IT and Instructional Technology staff in addition to a complement of highly skilled student Digital Scholarship interns. Faculty, staff and students are welcome to schedule one-on-one appointments with the staff regarding any of the DiSCO resources or for consultation in regards to academic projects. These are best done in advance by contacting disco@stolaf.edu to set up an appointment or by a walk-in basis.

Our current staffed hours are:

Monday – Friday, 10-5pm. DS Interns and iTech staff.
Monday – Thursday, 7-9pm. DS Interns.
Sunday 1-5pm, 7-9pm DS Interns.

CAVE : Saturday – Thursday: 4-8pm : DS and Cave Interns
