The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is charged with developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures for the College which promote health, safety, and sound environmental management, in accordance with federal and state regulations.
EHS provides leadership, technical support, information and training, consultation, and periodic audits to help ensure a safe and healthy campus environment, which directly supports the mission to “excel in the liberal arts.” These efforts encompass several broad areas: workplace safety, occupational health, laboratory & arts safety, emergency management, environmental programs, and general health and safety for the campus community.
The goal of EHS is to work as a partnership with faculty, staff, and students to continually improve our Culture of Safety so that everyone feels responsible for safety and feels empowered to learn, discover, and work in a manner that protects human health, the environment, and the campus facilities. EHS and the College demonstrate its commitment, in part, through the work of the Safety Committee.
