Frequently Asked Questions
How can I give?
One-time Gift | Give Monthly
What does the St. Olaf Fund Support?
Your gift supports the spaces that need it most, including (not limited to) financial aid, COVID assistance, student orgs and more.
Do small gifts actually help?
Yes! Any gift that the St. Olaf Fund receives supports students and faculty. It also shows other potential donors that Oles believe in other Oles, which can encourage further support.
Why should I give to the fund instead of a specific department or area?
It’s great to support a department that you believe in, or for one you see needs support. We also see that! A gift to the greatest need as we describe it means that departments or services that may not receive that kind of specified support can. We are here to fill in the gaps!
How is the fund different from endowed funds?
Endowed funds follow a strict set of guidelines focused on long-term earning, and the long-term guidelines dictate how assets will be allocated to yield a low-risk return. It’s a critical source of income for the college!
Gifts to the St. Olaf Fund are direct and used almost immediately in comparison. The “Greatest Need” gifts will be rolled into budgets for the following year and will be used for financial aid, operations and campus work/activities.
