The HEDS New Student Survey was administered to new First-Years and transfer students in August 2025 and had a 61% response rate. While this survey is mainly used to promote reflection and to prompt conversation between students and their advisors/mentors, the responses show the experiences, hopes, and concerns of incoming students. The following provides a high-level overview of the findings, with the dashboard below it offering a more detailed exploration of the survey results.
In the dashboard below, click the top tab buttons to navigate between survey themes. The first four tabs have charts that are sorted by the total number responding with agreement to the question. (such as Agree and Strongly Agree or Often and Very Often) The tabs “Time use” through “Math” are mainly from an Institutional Readiness module that asked about students’ experiences in high school. These tabs have tables with shading to help see patterns.
