Recreation Mission:

Our mission is to serve students and the greater St. Olaf College community by offering recreational programs and services aimed to foster personal development and lifelong well-being within a welcoming environment.

Current announcements:

Due to COVID-19,  Tostrud Center and Skoglund Athletic Center is closed until further notice.  


St. Olaf Alumni and family members of employees and Northfield Community members,  it is time to get your new Tostrud photo ID card.  You may obtain this card in Buntrock Commons room 7
Mondays – Thursdays       8am – 8 pm.
Fridays                                  8am – Noon pm.
The card is free to obtain.  Replacement cost is $25 payment by exact change or check.

Open skating times are Free for Students/Faculty/Staff and Free skate rental but must show St. Olaf ID and sign a waiver.  $2/skater for spouses, dependents of St. Olaf faculty/staff and alumni with pass and signed waiver and $3/rental for dependents and spouses of St. Olaf faculty/staff and alumni with pass and signed waiver.
Open Skate Hours:  Ice arena closed until further notice.
Thursdays    11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Sundays  5-6:30 p.m.

August 1, 2019 is the time to renew your Tostrud membership for 2019-20.
PASS RENEWAL FROM 9:00 a.m. – NOON , Monday – Friday. Office will be closed for passes over school breaks.

We are now asking Alumni for ID verification of address.
Police/Fire will now be Northfield Community members having restricted access.

Don’t forget to bring your ID to enter Tostrud as we are now SCANNING cards.  No ID, NO admittance.

Batting cages are for St. Olaf athletic teams only.

Please bring a separate pair of shoes to change into at Tostrud before you work out.  Clean shoes will help protect our fitness equipment and play surfaces!

Please note that St. Olaf does not have reciprocating memberships at the Carleton Recreation Center.

Recreation Academic year building hours starting September 5, 2019
Monday-Thursday, 6:30 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 8:45 p.m.
Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 8:45 p.m..
Sunday, Noon – 10:30 p.m.

Tom Porter Hall weight room hours 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.

Northfield Community Use Hours:

Monday-Friday, 6:30-9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. only.
Friday evenings, 6:00-8:45 p.m.
Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. – 8:45 p.m.

Fees for the Northfield Community are $180 for each individual per year.  Community memberships are limited to residents of Northfield and Dundas.

Restricted areas include: Fitness Room, Weight Room, Climbing Wall, Pool and Batting Cages.

Space permitting for court activities (tennis and basketball) for our Northfield Community members are Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – Noon only. We would like to remind you about Saturday scheduled events which may preclude court activities.
