STORP
The St. Olaf Outdoor Recreation Program (STORP), offers FREE gear rentals for students, faculty, and staff during the week, on weekends, or over school breaks. Gear available includes snowshoes, nordic skis, and gear for backpacking and overnight camping.
How to Checkout Gear
- To rent equipment, please bring a St. Olaf ID to the rental center located at the climbing wall desk.
- Let the desk worker know what gear you would like to rent.
- Our staff will complete a rental form for your review and signature.
- Any gear rented out must be returned a week from the checkout date.
- Gear can be returned early
- Equipment must be returned clean, on-time, and in good working condition. Fees may be charged for late, dirty, broken, or unreturned equipment.
Outdoor Trips
Throughout the school year, STORP offers a variety of outdoor trips that include anything from kayaking, hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, etc. These range from day trips to longer overnight trips.
STORP provides any essential gear, meals, snacks, and transportation to and from the activity.

At St Olaf Outdoor Recreation Program (STORP), it is our goal to provide students, staff, and faculty the opportunity to experience the outdoors in an affordable manner.
Outdoor gear can be expensive and often is a barrier that prevents people from enjoying the outdoors. Here at the STORP rental center, all gear is FREE to checkout for Students, Faculty, and Staff.
