The Tenure and Promotion Committee monitors policies and procedures for faculty reviews and recommends action in cases of promotion and tenure. The committee’s meeting schedule varies in accordance with the candidacies to be considered in a given academic year, with the majority of its meetings typically occurring in December and January. Most of its meetings are confidential. Its responsibilities include:
- Reviewing candidates for promotion and tenure and recommending action to the Dean of the College.
- Participating in the sixth-year reviews of faculty members with special appointments.
- Recommending policy on promotion and tenure to the Faculty Life Committee.
- Advising the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment on its activities in relation to faculty reviews.
