During the Academic Year, St. Olaf College TRIO Upward Bound staff provide tutoring and advising services at target school sites. During the school day, TRIO Upward Bound staff members are available to students for tutoring, meetings with teachers and counselors, advising, helping with college applications and financial aid, and giving personal assistance. After school on required tutoring days (Tuesday at Creative Arts and Highland Park, Wednesday at Humboldt and OWL, and Thursday at Central), TRIO Upward Bound full-time staff are joined by St. Olaf College students who provide tutorial services. Tutors can assist students in a variety of subjects and are wonderful role models! Many TRIO Upward Bound tutors are alumni of TRIO programs who have decided to attend St. Olaf College.
The Academic Year also includes monthly MANDATORY seminars that allow Upward Bound students to focus on certain topics. Seminars help students to prepare for the ACT Assessment, complete college applications, research careers, and plan for college are offered during the academic year.
